REGARDING THE EAST PALESTINE TRAIN DERAILMENT

 

The Center Township Water Authority is a member of RAIN (River Alert Information Network) and is being updated daily about the water quality of the Ohio River, due to the devasting accident that occurred in East Palestine.  This system is used by the Authority, not only in this situation but for all spills or contamination of the rivers in the area.  We are notified immediately if there is a problem.  Currently, there are no issues or contamination to the water in the area of the Center Township Water Authority’s intake.  The water you are drinking is regularly tested and safe for consumption by DEP standards.  Please note that the incident that took place was downstream for the Authority’s intake.  The Authority would notify its customer base immediately upon finding any contamination.
